You might call these meditative exercises or botany lessons. I think of them as chances to learn from a plant. The method was taught to me by the founding mothers of the farm, who learned it during their apprenticeship. Dress for being outside in whatever weather prevails (heavy rain will cause the lesson to be cancelled). We will be sitting for a long time. You can bring a chair or mat if you want. A field lens or magnifying glass is fun, but not necessary. Anyone who wants to participate and can sit quietly for 2 hours is welcome. These lessons are free to members. A donation to the farm of $5 per person is suggested for non-members. Please register for these in advance (by the day before) at 734-585-5067. .Currently scheduled Plant Studies at the farm are: Saturday, April 17 from 1 - 3 pm Wednesday, May 19 from 4 - 6 pm Tuesday, June 22 from 7 - 9 pm Saturday, July 24 from 4 - 6 pm Saturday, August 14 from 2 - 4 pm Saturday, September 25 from 2 - 4 pm Saturday, October 16 from 2 - 4 pm Other sessions can be arranged by calling Karen 734-585-5067. WEED & SINGS A singing and weeding party at the farm. We’ll teach each other rounds and other songs, and sing them (or hum them, or listen to them) while we weed. The singing makes the work more fun; it makes the plants grow better, and you vibrate more harmoniously. It all works out so well. Join us anytime. Feel free to bring friends. Young children will need to be supervised by a non-participating adult. You can just show up (or not) for these. Absolutely no experience is necessary.
