PLANT STUDIES

You might call these meditative exercises or botany lessons.  I think of them as chances to learn from a plant.  The method was taught to me by the founding mothers of the farm, who learned it during their apprenticeship.
To understand a plant, you have to slow down and focus your attention.  Developing these skills and exercising our senses in the service of awareness are good training for many areas of life.  In addition we always learn a lot about plants.

Dress for being outside in whatever weather prevails (heavy rain will cause the lesson to be cancelled).  We will be sitting for a long time.  You can bring a chair or mat if you want.  A field lens or magnifying glass is fun, but not necessary.

Anyone who wants to participate and can sit quietly for 2 hours is welcome.  These lessons are free to members.  A donation to the farm of $5 per person is suggested for non-members.  You must register for these in advance (by the day before) at 734-585-5067.

The upcoming plant studies are scheduled for:

Wednesday, July 27, 2 - 4 pm

Wednesday, August 17, 2 - 4 pm

Wednesday, September 14, 2 - 4 pm.

WEED & SINGS

A singing and weeding party at the farm.  We teach each other rounds and other songs, and sing them (or hum them, or listen to them) while we weed.  The singing makes the work more fun; it makes the plants grow better, and you vibrate more harmoniously.  It all works out so well.  Join us anytime.  Feel free to bring friends.  Young children will need to be supervised by a non-participating adult outside the field.  You can just show up (or not) for these.  Absolutely no experience is necessary.

Upcoming Weed & Sings are scheduled for:

Wednesday, July 13, 2 - 4 pm

The August Weed & Sing has been cancelled due to lack of interest in Weed & Sings. Call Karen (585-5067) if you want to arrange one.
